Gavankar is known for her more notable roles as Papi, a promiscuous lesbian in The L Word, Leigh Turner, a cop with a big secret on The Gates, Ms. Dewey, the personification of a Microsoft branded search engine who comments about the user's searches, Shiva, the namesake of the sought after trophy on The League, and, most recently, shapeshifter Luna Garza on HBO's True Blood.

Sofia Vergara





Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara (born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian actress, comedian, television hostess, and model.

Vergara had been widely known for co-hosting two television shows for Univisión in the late 1990s. Her television career opened up for her a window of exposure to North American audiences prior to her first notable acting job in English, the 2003 film Chasing Papi. Subsequently, she appeared in films, including two Tyler Perry films, Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009), receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. Vergara's success on television has earned her roles in recent films, The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), Happy Feet Two (2011) and The Three Stooges (2012).

As of 2012, Vergara stars on the ABC series Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, for which she was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Comedy Actress.

Her sophomore release, "Mr. Saxobeat", became her worldwide breakthrough hit, selling almost 1,000,000 copies in less than a year and reaching the top five in over twenty countries such as New Zealand and the United Kingdom and the top thirty in Australia, Canada and United States. She released her debut album in August 2011, entitled Saxobeats. The album spawned two more singles: "Get Back (ASAP)" and "1.000.000" the latter with rapper Carlprit. On June 4, 2012, she released a new song called "Lemonade", which has over 30 million views as of December 1st.

She is due to portray the next companion to the Doctor in the British sci-fi series Doctor Who, and appeared in the series seven opener, "Asylum of the Daleks" as Oswin Oswald. She is due to begin her role as companion Clara in the 2012 Christmas Special "The Snowmen".
